Bonefishing sounds pretty good right now with the weather we are having all over the country. If you are lucky enough to have a trip planned this winter take a few of our latest fly tying video focus: The Casuarina Point Crusher is a killer. Add legs and change the body or wing color and you have the basis for a series of easy to tie effective Bonefish patterns.
Casurina Point Crusher Bonefish Fly
Hook: Gamakatsu SL 45 #6
Thread: White Ultra Thread
Tail: Flat Diamond Braid Pearl
Eyes: Black Mono Eyes Med
Body: Flat Diamond Braid
Wing: Sparkle Emerger Yarn Tan
What do you think about this for sea runs- looks somewhat like a euphasid pattern…
As always, thanks for posting these videos!
A friend of mine in Media PA tied some of these flies up and I caught my first ever bonefish on a fly without a guide stalking the flats at Casuarina Point. Thanks so much and we are going back in January! 9 foot 8 wt St. Croix/Reddington Reel
PS We also cheated and caught many on conch using a spinning rod.
