Rains come to Pacific Northwest and 12-foot waves pound the coast for weeks on end. For some, the guide season is on hold for a few months. The days are dark and the beers are darker. Might as well tie huge steelhead flies and have a few laughs on the South Coast.

    Funny stuff there… According to Wikipedia: Myrtlewood, Umbellularia californica, is also known as Headache Tree.

    “The leaf was used by western U.S Native Americans as a cure for headache, toothache, and earache—though the volatile oils in the leaves may also cause headaches when used in excess.”
