Last weekend, Trout Unlimited put together a crew to tackle the Lower McKenzie River, floating from Armitage to Cross in search of native redsides. A few rainbows were caught, along with dozens of cutthroat and some trophy suckers. We saw some march browns and an explosion of Mothers Day Caddis. And Moon baked mozzarella sticks. In the boat.

You call that picture a “trophy sucker”? Your TU chapter needs some serious sucker angling skills development!
Hey Rick, Nice fish and boat!! Thanks for organizing this trip – well done. I think Moon should start a “Hot Food” concession on the Willamette as a fund raiser for the local TU Chapter, eh?? I know a lot of fishermen that would pay cash for a little hot snack on the river!! Now if we can stick a keg in Karl’s boat and offer dessert in Brent’s boat… we can have a “Progressive Meal / Fund Raiser” that would raise a lot of bones for our projects!!

now that is done just right. a stove on the drift boat!! now you’re talking. I knew I should have signed up for membership!
I enjoyed my day…. Well as much as I could considering my wife boated our big fish. But I got even – I made her wait for her pizza – Plus I didn’t use any dryer sheets when I did her laundry that night. And just to make sure she got the point, I didn’t set the auto timer on the coffee pot before I went to bed. Sometimes a man just has to put his foot down at home and let the little woman know who is in charge…
Really though, I have been very happy with the strong conservation work I have seen come out of TU # 678 in the short time I have been there. I am also enjoying the great company of said members and looking forward to meeting more of you.
Now please excuse me, I need to mop the kitchen floor and clean the bathroom before it’s time to cook dinner…
That is one helluva nice sucker…and no, I’m not referring to Moon.
