This week, Gabe O’Campo of Eugene (past president of the Emerald Empire Chapter of the Northwest Steelheaders) wrote a great column in the Register-Guard, calling on Oregon anglers to get behind global warming legislation, and specifically to pressure Gordon Smith to sign-on to the Warner-Lieberman Climate Security Act.
From the article: Fisheries are being closed, guide trips are being canceled due to flooding, and warm water is killing our beloved cold water fish… The message from sportsmen is simple — all of our Oregon congressional leaders need to support legislation that begins reducing global warming pollution by 2 percent per year and gets us well on the path of what scientists say is necessary to avoid the most dangerous impacts from climate change.
You can sign up with the National Wildlife Federation’s sportsmen campaign to get involved. Watch this video on the topic from NWF (Note the goofball standing in the background in the Patagonia vest…)

Gore Bedammed–thanks for dropping by and voicing your opinion. There definitely has been some of this talk since we experienced decent snowpack this year.
Global warming is not about one isolated data point in one area or city or region of the world in one year month or day. Rather, it is worldwide phenonmenon. Global warming does not mean that it will be warmer than previous averages every day of the year in every place in the world all the time. Shifting climate patterns may even mean that it is colder than usual in some parts of the world due to shifts in ocean temps and the jet and gulf streams.
Another aspect of global warming is unpredictable weather pattens and climactic unrest. Examples of this unrest may include heavier, earlier or later rainfall, more severe and unpredictable storms etc.
